postheadericon Real Summer Fun: Fully Automatic Super Soaker

Terry with his Nerf Super Soaker Thunderstorm.

Here’s the scenario: my kids always have squirt guns and I invariably end up getting wet in some kind of raid organized by the 3 year old. Not any more. I have the Nerf Super Soaker Thunderstorm, a fully automatic squirt blaster.

Remember the old Super Soakers we used to have? The ones you had to constantly pump to maintain water pressure and leaked like a sieve? This is much, much better.

  • It’s battery operated meaning you pull the trigger, you squirt a stream of water that can reach up to fifteen feet (Hasbro claims it can shoot 25 feet).
  • The Thunderstorm is motorized and totally awesome.
  • It has a really cool clip system so when you run out of water just snap a fresh clip in and your spraying kids again.

This is the coolest Super Soaker ever and carries a suggested retail price of just $14.99. Extra clips are $3.99 each, and you’re going to want at least one additional clip. They run out pretty fast in the heat of battle.

It’s made my Hasbro and the Nerf people, so you know this is a good toy. It’s solid and sturdy and the clips make a satisfying “chunk” sound when inserted. I really like this Super Soaker. Even if you’re not buying it to spray your kids, but for your kids, I would highly recommend The Nerf Super Soaker Thunderstorm.

And with the summer upon us, let the water fights begin!

Nerf – Super Soaker Thunderstorm. Hasbro, Nerf.

Note: I didn’t originally purchase this for me. I bought it for my son Jack, but he likes one of the older Super Soakers better (you can attach one liter bottles as a tank) so I claimed this for myself. It makes spraying the kids so satisfying.

How to dispose of a dead body. Two tested methods! One of the methods is based on Dexter Morgan’s technique from his TV show on Showtime. This tutorial is a follow up to our Illegal Nerf Gun Mod video. If you accidentally killed someone (or purposefully murdered someone) using that Nerf hack, you’ll need this tutorial. Evade the police and get rid of the evidence with this brilliant step-by-step method. You’ll never have to worry about CSI Miami again. Or you could also just move out of Miami. postheadericon DIY Tesla gun actually works, looks incredibly dangerous | Ubergizmo

Ever wondered how cool a Tesla gun would be if recreated in real life? Inspired by the graphic novel, The Five Fists of Science, author Rob Flickenger set about creating one for himself. Not only did he manage to produce a pretty realistic looking Tesla gun, but he managed to create one that actually works and that is capable of shooting out volts of electricity, making this not only extremely cool, but extremely dangerous! Of course putting the gun together was no easy task and it took quite a lot of work and help along with materials and equipment that will not be readily available to the masses (thank goodness). Made from a Nerf gun, it has been given a makeover and now features an aluminum body, an 18V drill battery, a customized porcelain high-voltage switch along with a flyback transformer that transforms the 18V into 20,000V of electricity. If you’re interested in seeing the sparks fly, be sure to check out the video above or head on over to Rob’s website where he details the making of the gun.

postheadericon Urban Taggers.: Review: Nerf Dart Tag Sharpshot- New and …

Last year’s revitalised Dart Tag series from Nerf brought several new players to the game, including the single fire Sharp Shot- a fan favourite aesthetically but with very unremarkable (well rubbish) performances.  An interesting move from Nerf is to re-release it with a few minor aesthetic changes (blue rather than orange accents) and allegedly a performance factory upgrade. How much of an improvement? Well we picked one up from our local Target to give it a go. And.. a rare move by us- we cracked it open:D Internal pics after the jump:)

The Sharpshot comes in a very similar packaging to the original blaster; the blaster, four darts and a plastic quick release belt clip carabiner thing:)

Soo.. here’s what you’re all interested in knowing- 1) What do the insides look like, 2) does it really shoot further than the original, and 3) HOW? So we cracked it open. The internals are.. unremarkable, but the source of the extra power is clear. It’s the spring.

Everything else is pretty much the same, but the difference is a thicker and stronger spring. It’s nothing crazy like modders acquire, but it’s a lot closer to the likes of other comparable Nerf blasters and gives the performance closer to the likes of NiteFinders (but not quite).

14 bucks at Target. Worth it? It’s a single shot, so if you like the way the old Sharpshot felt, then sure pick one up because the updated spring definitely makes a difference. Personally, I still think you’d be fine with a cheaper and more powerful Nite Finder- but the Sharpshot DOES look cool.

What I like the most is it shows Nerf are considering more powerful springs.. interesting:)

postheadericon Real-Life Tracking And Shooting Portal Turret (video) | Geeky Gadgets

Fans of Valve’s Portal series of games will appreciate this real-life Portal Turret gun which has been created by YouTube users kss5095 for his Advanced Mechatronics class at Penn State University. Combining motion tracking cameras and dual Nerf guns to keep intruders at bay. Watch the video after the jump to see it in action.

The Portal Turret has been built on a skeleton frame and is equipped with a IP webcam to track a target, and fire nerf bullets at anyone who passes infront of it. The processing within the Portal Turret is provided by a little Arduino wizardry and MATLAB programming. Its creator is now in the process of moulding a shell for the working Turret to finish the design off and make it look exactly like the Portal Turrets from the games.

Just a heads up everyone, I bought this for $10 at Walmart, so of course you’ll be getting a review on it soon. I’ve always been curious about this since people started reporting it about 3 or 4 years ago.

postheadericon Simons Cat: Kinect sensor nerf gun mod

In light of the gorgeous (is it tasteless to call guns gorgeous?) Gravity and Portal Gun replicas by Australian artist Harrison Krix, and in spirt of Team Dis-Kinect who hacked a Kinect to make a motion-controlled puppet for this year’s New York event, we bring you a How-To that combines the popularity of shooter games with the creative brains of a hacker.

In order to modify your Nerf gun to play rail shooter games on your
computer you will need a Nerf Finder EX-10 foam dart gun (you’ll need
the battery pack to power the wireless trigger), a five-button wireless
mouse (to dismantle for parts) and a PC enabled Kinect sensor.

First
you need to connect the Kinect sensor to your PC and install a
collection of tools that will enable you to control the Windows mouse
pointer by moving your hand in front of the sensor. Find instructions on
how to install Windows Kinect drivers, middleware and the FAAST mouse control toolkit.

Configure the tracking software by using the FAAST bindings found in Step 2.
This will allow the Nerf gun to move the mouse pointer. Do note that
the settings are designed for the Nerf gun to be tracked at shoulder
height about 5-6 feet away from the Kinect. FAAST
will activate the tracking when you press Connect, Start Emulation and
wave the Nerf gun in front of the Kinect until a white focus dot appears
on the tracking image.

Now
that your Nerf gun is able to control the mouse, add a mechanism to
enable your gun to shoot in the game. Unscrew the Nerf gun case and
remove the spring loaded bolt. Then take the circuit board from your
dismantled mouse and fit it into the cavity in the Nerf gun that use to
hold the spring bolt. Then wire the circuit to the Nerf’s battery pack
and wire the side button’s jumper wires to the Nerf’s trigger operated
switch. After that, black out the mouse laser and side vents with
insulation tape, since we are only using the circuit for the trigger
button. Make sure your PC USB mouse and the Nerf’s USB wireless receiver are connected to the same external USB hub.

Map the Nerf gun trigger to the left mouse button using X-Mouse software, and set mouse button 4 and 5 to activate. unsecured loans

With FAAST and X-Mouse running in the background, download a demo of House Of The Dead 3 and start it in windowed mode (FAAST won’t operate if the game’s running in full-screen mode. Now you’re all ready to make your gameplay that more real. bad credit loans
